안녕하세요. 우리 연구실 홈페이지를 방문해 주셔서 감사합니다.
우리 연구실은 Intelligent & Active Health라는 비전으로 지난 2016년 가을, Smart Health Lab이라는 이름으로 설립되었습니다. 최근 4차 산업혁명의 도래와 인공지능이 대두됨에 따라 데이터 중심(Data-Driven) 정보처리 기술의 발전이 사회 전반에 적용되기 시작했습니다. 이러한 발전을 통해 의료를 포함한 사회 전반이 크게 변화할 것이라는 예상에는 이견이 없습니다.
우리는 이러한 기술의 발전을 의료에 적극적으로 적용하여 환자들이 더 나은 치료를 받고 환자들이 주체적으로 의료 활동에 참여할 수 있는 환경을 만들어 나가고자 합니다. 기존의 의료에서 환자들은 수동적이었다면, 최근 환자 참여(Patient Engagement)에 대한 인식이 커지며 환자의 역할이 더욱 적극적인 방향으로 변화하고 있습니다. 이에 환자들은 더 많은 정보를 갖고, 의료진과 더 많은 소통을 하며, 치료 방향에 결정권을 가지고 가게 되었습니다. 기존의 의료전달체계에서는 불가능했던 일을 가능하게 하기 위해서는 정보통신기술(Health Information Technology, HIT)의 활용이 필요합니다.
우리 연구실은 의료를 둘러싸고 있는 이러한 변화에 대응하는 중개 의학(Translational Science or medicine)을 하고 있습니다. 중개 의학이란 기초과학의 결과를 융합하여, 임상에서 질환의 치료나 환자의 건강 상태를 개선하는 것을 목표로 하는 학문 분야로, 태생적으로 여러 학문 분야에 도움을 받는 다학제간 학문입니다. 따라서 중개 의학을 추구하는 우리 연구실에도 다양한 관심사를 가지고 있는 학생들이 있습니다. 의료, 통계, 공학을 포함한 다양한 학문 분야를 배경으로 하는 학생들이 저마다 자신이 가진 장점을 바탕으로 함께 협력하고, 공부하고, 프로젝트에 기여하고 있습니다.
